The INTRO WinnersNew Norwegian chamber music stars

These young and widely renowned Norwegian musicians, who also have ties to Sweden, are busy expanding internationally. On this particular tour Beethoven, Bach, Debussy and Grieg are on the repertoire.

All four musicians have excelled in various competitions. Anders Nilsson’s sparkling violin playing earned him excellent results in the Prinsessan Astrids Musikkpris in Trondheim.

Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin’s expressive cello playing was awarded the Prix de Jean Nicolas Firmenich in Verbier, Switzerland. Caroline Eidsten Dahl’s virtuoso mastering of the recorder took her from the halls of the Kremlin in Moscow to the Wigmore hall in London, while the victory at the Grieg competition in Oslo offered pianist Kristian Lindberg a place on stage in the chamber music hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. They all have in common winning a position in the Norwegian Rikskonserter’s prestigious INTRO-klassisk project for launching musicians.

As chamber musicians and soloists all four of them are active in all of Scandinavia. Anders Nilsson is part of the Finnish-Norwegian piano trio Arctia, Caroline Eidsten Dahl is a member of the Swedish-Irish-Norwegian recorder quartet, Woodpeckers and Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin is a permanent member of Den Danske Strykekvartett.

The programme of the Concerts Sweden tour includes Beethoven’s cello sonatas, Debussy’s violin sonatas and music for the recorder by Fulton og Zahnhausen. Three of the musicians play together in Grieg’s only piece for piano trio. All four of them will perform excerpts of Bach’s immortal Goldberg variations and a potpourri of compositions from various eras based on the traditional melody, La Folia.
