New director of Concerts Sweden  

The Government has appointed the director Göran K. Johansson as new Executive Director of the Foundation Concerts Sweden. At present he is the chairman of the board of Concerts Sweden and will start his new job on 1 February 2010, when the appointment of Björn W Stålne ends.

Göran K. Johansson was until recently the Executive Director of Malmö Opera and is an experienced executive. As the cultural proposition of this autumn, Tid för kultur (Time for culture), shows, there will be a reform in State subsidy and the subsidy to Concerts Sweden will cease in 2011. Taking this into account, Göran K. Johansson’s employment will be limited to 31 December 2010.

“I think it’s a very good thing that Göran K. Johansson is to be the new director of Concerts Sweden and especially during the special conditions that will be prevailing in 2010. He knows our organization, as he has been chairman of the board for almost one year. Through his earlier experience, as Executive Director of Malmö Opera, he has solid knowledge of management and structural change which will come in handy at Concerts Sweden during our changing process” says the present director Björn W Stålne.

“Göran K. Johansson is a director who is well informed about Concerts Sweden’s work and the problems the company will have when adjusting to the new situation. As chairman of the board, he has been eager to hear the points of view of the employees”, says Jan Kask, chairman of the DIK union at Concerts Sweden.
